June 12th, 2020

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

We’ve just completed week 1 of student access.  I want to thank all involved for making the process a smooth one.  Visits will continue between June 15th and 19th.  To review our access protocol please click on the following link: Student Access Letter Template.

Community Service Hours

As has been shared previously, the 40-hour Community Service requirement for 2020 graduates has been waived.  We’ve received some important updates for current grade 8-11 students who are considering volunteering this summer.  Please take some time to review the following update:  Summer 2020 Community Service Update.

Early this spring we shared that Ms. Anne Curry, Ms. Carol Houston and Ms. Connie Watters would all be retiring at the end of June.  We have another retirement announcement to share.  Mr. Mark Morden, Department Head of Contemporary Studies, will also be retiring this June.  Mr. Todd Carley has been appointed the new Department Head of Contemporary Studies.  We want to congratulate all of our retiring staff.  They have each left a lasting mark on our school community.

Holy Spirit Parish

As we move into Phase 2 of reopening Holy Spirit is working on plans to be able to welcome parishioners to mass.  The hope is to begin holding in-person masses on the weekend of June 20th.  Currently the plan is to welcome those 60 years of age and older at the 5pm Saturday mass on June 20th.  In-person Sunday mass is scheduled to begin again on Sunday, June 21st at 10:30 am (30% capacity permitted).  Social distancing measures will be in place.  Please check the parish website for regular updates:  www.holyspiritparish.ca

Summer School Reminder

A reminder that in addition to Reach Ahead and Credit Recovery programs, Continuing Education is also offering several Upgrading Courses for grade 9-11 students and a Skill Builder program for grade 6, 7 and 8 students.  For more information please visit:  2020-21 Updated Summer School Information.

We hope you and your family continue to stay safe and well.
