Sacred Heart is privileged to have its own Chapel that is the focus of the spiritual character of the school. The chapel is used for private prayer, class liturgical celebrations, the sacrament of reconciliation and celebration of mass, and classroom meditations. The chapel is a place where individual students and classes can experience their spirituality on a personal level.
High school chaplaincy is a ministry of presence to staff, students and their families. Our chaplain is available to listen, to provide spiritual direction, to visit hospitals and funeral homes, and to provide resources in crisis situations. As well, through our chaplaincy program, daily prayer, youth ministry, community worship of the various liturgical seasons, retreats, resource to faith across curriculum and social action projects are animated. Our chaplain also fosters liaisons with local parish communities and the diocese.
The Chapel, located off the atrium, is a refuge for all. Always open to welcome students, the Chapel is used for private prayer and class liturgical celebrations. The chapel in Sacred Heart High School is blessed with a stained glass window as well as beautiful artwork by Fr. Herman Falke. Set aside some time during your day to sit in quiet reflection.
Sacred Heart High School celebrates faith in a number of ways. Our days begin with prayer calling all to be mindful of God’s presence among us as we journey through each day. Our school community celebrates the Eucharist with grade level masses throughout the year at Holy Spirit Parish. Liturgies of the word, Ash Wednesday liturgies and other smaller liturgies take place in the school chapel or within classrooms. Religion classes visit the chapel with their teacher to take some time to reflect on faith, to discuss ideas and to pray together. All students and staff members are welcome to visit the chapel to spend some time in quiet.
